A leak on the incoming supply can affect your water bill without leaving a mark indoors. We investigate the private supply serving the property, from the accessible meter or boundary arrangement through to the building, and explain what the checks show.
When this service can help
- An unexplained high metered water bill
- Continuous meter movement with normal use stopped
- A drop in pressure across several taps
- Water emerging along a suspected supply route
How we investigate
We assess accessible isolation points and the relationship between the meter and the property supply. The investigation may combine isolation checks, listening equipment, tracing and tracer gas. A shared supply needs careful assessment so the correct pipe is identified.
Before the appointment
Have a recent bill or meter reading ready and tell us if a water company has already investigated. If the pipe serves more than one property, arrange access and permissions with the other responsible parties.
From the findings to the fix
Responsibility for water pipework depends on the actual supply arrangement. If evidence points towards a water company asset, the relevant water company should be involved. For your private supply repair, we explain the access, complete the plumbing work and test it afterwards.
For residential work, the £1,195 total includes investigation, access, the plumbing repair, parts and materials, testing and a report. The £100 booking deposit is deducted from the total. Commercial instructions are quoted separately.
Decorative and remedial reinstatement after access is excluded. The repair workmanship comes with a 12-month warranty. We explain the job before the appointment is confirmed.

GOOD TO KNOW
Your questions, answered.
Can a supply leak happen without visible water?
Yes. Escaping water may disperse below ground. Meter readings and the investigation can be useful even when there is no wet patch.
How does the £100 deposit work?
First, contact us about the leak. Once the job and appointment are confirmed, we send you a payment link for a £100 booking deposit. This is deducted from £1,195, leaving £1,095. Sending an enquiry does not take a payment or confirm an appointment.
Will you need to lift floors or open walls?
Detection helps narrow down the source before access is made. Some leaks require floors, walls, ceilings or external surfaces to be opened so the pipe can be repaired. We explain what is needed and aim to avoid unnecessary disruption.
Can I claim through my insurance?
We provide a detailed Trace & Access report for you to submit to your insurer. Acceptance and reimbursement depend on your policy, excess, limits and insurer’s decision. Check any approval requirements with your insurer before work begins.
